There are now many different weather forecasts available on-line. These vary in their accuracy, the area they cover and, particularly, in their relevance to conditions in the mountains. Between them, the following three should give a pretty good indication of likely mountain conditions in our area:
1 The Saddle Weather Forecast, generated by the Met Office Weather Widget
2 The Met Office also produce a more general mountain forecast for the West Highlands.
3 The Mountain Weather Information Service (MWIS) produce a detailed Mountain Weather Forecast for the North West Highlands.
Other mountain areas are available!
Avalanche Forecasts for Lochaber and Torridon can be found on the Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) website: http://www.sais.gov.uk/
There is currently no forecast produced for the Glen Shiel/Kintail area. The above forecasts may provide a general indication of the likely conditions in Kintail but should be treated as a guide only!
Daily forecasts have now (April 3rd) finished for the 2016/17 winter season although information on current conditions may still be found from the forecaster blogs on the SAIS website for the next couple of weeks. Daily forecasts will resume in December 2017.
